Bipolar Disorder

I’ve got bipolar disorder, my shit’s not in order, I’m overweight, I’m always late, I’ve got too many things to say…” – Secrets by Mary Lambert

According to the National Institute of Mental Health Bipolar II is, “Bipolar II Disorder— defined by a pattern of depressive episodes and hypomanic episodes, but not the full-blown manic episodes from Bipolar I.”

Who am I?

  • A tall, female, moderately musically inclined, lover of honey bees who roller skates a bit. I am a full-time student and part-time teacher.
  • Someone with bipolar II, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, recovering insomniac human with OCD tendencies.

I am healing, surviving, and struggling.

What am I doing?

  • Writing my thoughts out
  • HOPEFULLY, helping others understand mental illness, its impact on individuals and their family and friends, and reducing the stigma on various forms of treatment
  • Trying something new. Will I do this for years or weeks? Not sure. Will anyone see it? Not sure. But here it goes!

Here is my story. I am doing this as a way to accept my past and move on towards a brighter future. I also hope to help and inspire those who are struggling in similar ways just as many other people helped me along the way.
